Ever looked at your power bill and had that sinking feeling in your stomach? Yeah me too.

There are many ways to cut down on your energy bill.

Here are a few ways to help you do exactly that.

1. Unplug any unnecessary devices

What is probably the easiest way of cutting that power bill in half, is to switch off and unplug any devices you may have connected that you aren’t using at that time.

Things such as computers or TVs sitting in sleep or standby mode still tend to use power which, over time, will add up big time.

Other things such as air-con/heater are good things to try not to use as much. What we’re saying is: dress for the temperature. Wear a jumper or jacket if you are cold etc..

2. Don’t leave lights on all day

This is a big one as everyone tends to get in the habit of walking out of their home without turning lights off, such as in the kitchen or bathroom. Try and use the sun as a natural light if you can and as much as you can.

If you do need to use the lights, just make sure to remember to turn them off when you leave.

3. Deals on power

You may find that finding a better deal from an energy supplier is all you need. There are multiple websites such as finder.com.au or energymadeeasy.gov.au to name a few that can help you find a sweeter deal.

4. Solar energy

Solar energy can definitely make a huge difference in your power bill savings.

By using solar panels and solar energy, you avoid having to use retailers as your power source. Solar panels can also help you cut the bill as they can be used in hot water systems which in turn then helps you stay away from any gas charges that you may have with a gas-fired water heater.
