Christmas time is coming up, full of fun and happiness. The only thing wrong with it is the craziness involved with preparing everything and then dealing with the stress.

Here are a few tips that will help you stay organised and stress-free.

1. Budgeting

One of the most important things to do is to create a budget. Do you know what food you are preparing? what gifts to buy?

A budget can help you decide on if you need everything or if you can go without this time and get it another time. Focus on the important stuff.

2. Cleaning

Having a tidy home can improve your stress dramatically.

It would be better to focus on the rooms that everyone would be able to see and the kitchen. Leave the bedrooms and other private areas until after all the guests have left.

3. Relationships

Stress and anxiety are very common during the holidays. A few stress reduction ideas can include:

  • Drop bring up touchy topics – If you know a certain topic will set off family members, try to avoid it as much as possible, even if they are the ones that bring it up.
  • Deep breaths and other relaxation techniques can help lower stress and anxiety

4. Have a break

Make sure you take some time to have a break, even if it’s for only 10-15mins. Find something that will help you reduce stress by clearing your mind, and taking deep breaths.

A few ideas may be:

  • Go for a walk
  • Listen to some calming music
  • Read a book
  • Go get a massage
